There are certain aspects of being a kid that just don’t translate very well, once you’ve immersed yourself into adulthood.

As you get older those things will become abundantly clear to you.

I know one of those instances for me, was when I graduate college and I just accepted my first role in corporate America, working in accounts payable.

I opened up my closet one Saturday and noticed all I had to wear were Ecko and Rocawear graphic polos and baggy jeans.

Cool attire for a Saturday night, not so much for Monday mornings.

While certain things become painfully obvious that we need to get rid of them, there are trends that men just can’t seem to let go of.

I myself wondered why I held on so long to this particular trend, and recently it was revealed to me how hideous it looked, as I made my morning trek from my parking space to Uptown where all the corporate buildings are.

Gentlemen, once you’ve exited college, unless you’re going on a camping trip or hike, this is a big no-no.

The biggest point to remember about style and fashion, is that there should be cohesiveness, even down to the accessories.

Traditional leather works with just about anything

It’s wonderful you have that mean sportscoat on as you strut into the office, however, carrying a larger bulky book bag over the shoulder clashes tremendously with your outfit.

Largely, the majority of corporate America has shifted into business casual mode.  So, the days of walking to work or taking public transit in a suit and briefcase are over.

Not to say there is anything wrong with the traditional leather briefcase, I just believe, unless you are in an executive position, the mystic of the briefcase just doesn’t work in 2019.

For me, just like any article of clothing, a man should have accessories that, not only speak to who is, but is also functional.

Gentlemen, its time to invest in a messenger bag.
